1 Story 2 Different Ways

On Friday, April 28th, North Korea launched nuclear missiles in response for the desire for increased pressure by other countries. Both CNN and The Washington Post wrote articles about this event, the articles mainly discussed the same and both detailed the event but there were small differences that may change the viewpoint of the reader.
The main difference that i noticed was the content and language between the two articles. Throughout the article posted by CNN, the reader is given statistics and facts to help them gain more context and knowledge about what happened and why it is a big deal. Whereas in the Washington Post's article about this event uses more of a way that appeals to the average person more. They use direct quotes and even tweets from significant people involved in this event. This may appeal to the casual reader more because they are more accustomed to to it. In CNN's article the reader may not know what to do with some of the information given which may cause a lack of interest to the reader. From reading both articles it appears that CNN spent more time writing this because of the specific information and insight it was able to give to the audience. these two news outlets may be writing about the same thing but have two different styles of conveying their points. The article from the Washington Post gives a perspective that is more appealing to the causal reader. CNN's article is more geared to someone who has had previous knowledge of this situation. When i was reading the article from CNN i was confused at times because they would give facts that i did not know how to connect. I was less engaged when i was reading CNN's article than i was reading the article by Washington Post.
Although these differences may seem subtle they have an impact on the reader because it can cause the reader to be more engaged and agree with your points better. Both these articles portray the information of the event in different ways, and the reader may appeal to one more than the other depending on the way the article is choosing to convey its story.
