A New Way of Advertising

A lot of the commercials that we see on T.V. are more geared towards today's world in the sense that they are now using things like technology and popular trends that go around. One commercial in particular is by Burger King. Their commercial is only fifteen seconds but is very interesting because it doesn't really advertise their new burger. What it does is tell people to google their burger and let technology advertise their burger for them. Technology has become such a big part of every one's lives and this commercial is trying to take advantage of that. They are relying on technology to help sell their new burger. One major flaw i noticed with this commercial is that what if google says something that you don't want them saying about the new burger? Technology may help advertise for you but it may not as well because using google is going to give a wide range of definitions and some of these definitions may discuss the good parts of it while others may talk about the bad parts. Commercials these days are trying harder and harder to capture the audiences' attention. This commercial by Burger King is quick and to the point, but it sends a message that some thirty second commercials cant. This commercial caught my attention because this was a somewhat risky move by Burger King. Google is such a huge source of information that it may give the wrong information, the information that Burger King may not want you to hear.
Advertisements in today's world will try anything to try and appeal to us and what better way than to make a short and to the point commercial? What is really interesting about this specific commercial is that it doesn't tell us anything about the product and it basically tells us to go on our phones and learn about the product ourselves. It is giving us the choice and not forcing us to listen to a thirty second commercial telling us all about their burger. This is the first time seeing this technique of advertising for me because i am accustomed to your typical commercials that we see on T.V. Maybe the whole point of this commercial was just to get it in our minds and have us think about it, so that we become curious as to what their burger is and want to go buy one and try it.

  1. Jake you forgot to add pictures. You need one for every blog. I agree how a lot of the ads today follows the trend. Trends spread more easily with technology and social media. I also agree with the double sides of technology. If something isn't good, it spreads easier than it is good. Like the Samsung phone that explodes. I heard it on social media the day of the new incident. By the way, I think most people know what a burger is :)

  2. I think the burger advertisement would convince a viewer more to use google than to go get a burger. Since people are very dependent on their phones to do something for them that they could easily do themselves. I agree that there is more uses of technology that allow for more advertising, and that these other ways are not always the best.
