Advertisements are Everywhere We Look

While I was watching Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals, I noticed that even within the game there are advertisements. If you are watching the game on T.V  or in the stands than you can see that there are advertisements on the scorers table. The scorers table is directly on the court and it is strategically placed so that people watching T.V. can see it as well. After seeing this I realized how much of our lives are consumed by ads.  Some of the ads were random and did not even have anything to do with the basketball game. If you are watching the game casually then you might not pay too much attention to it, but because we have been learning all about advertisements in the past week or two it caught my attention. One of the ads was a mountain dew ad and it used a green color font with a black background to try and help the ad stick out more amongst the game. Sadly it worked. I noticed it and for a few minutes of the game i was paying attention to all the ads that were in my T.V. picture. I focused more on the ads than i did on the actual game itself. I am starting to hate advertisements more and more because they distract me from what i want to actually focus on. I know I can just tune out all the ads but how can i when they are everywhere we look, literally. Sometimes I cant help myself and I find that I pay too close attention to certain advertisements. This is exactly what the companies want you to do, of course they want you to buy their product, but the main focus of some of these ads are probably just to have it stick to our brains so that we know about it. The ads that i saw during the game did not even show a product, they just had the name of the company with some cool writing, this is exactly what I am talking about. Companies just want to put their brand out there and become even more well known, sometimes we don't even notice that it affects us but it does. I am going to try to tune out as many ads as I can because sometimes it can become distracting especially when they are in the middle of a basketball game.


This is not the specific game I was talking about but you can see my point. The table is advertising Lucas Oil in this picture. What is also interesting is that the table isn't the only thing with ads on them, as you can see there are ads on the hoop and above the tunnel.
